Armour Stone Retaining Walls

A landscaped property with an Armour Stone retaining wall can be used for both decoration and security. If you require shoring to protect along shorelines, similar to the above picture, then square cut Armour Stone is the perfect building material. Its predictable sizes can allow for building stability as well as a rustic natural look. These stones can weigh 500- 2500 lbs and will create a strong barrier from the elements of wind and water.
These projects require access for medium to large sized equipment in order to pickup and place each stone. Be sure to contact us well in advance to plan this project since various permits and locates may be required prior to start date. If your plan is to level or fill in the grade and add a Garden bed design with plants and/or sod installation...then we can also help with the finishing touches.

In some properties with large elevation changes it is also desirable to Landscape a tiered or terraced look to account for the amount of matertial the retaining wall will need to secure. In its construction it will require a base level with good drainage, a weeping tile may be added to help remove any accumultive water on the uphill side of the armour stone retaining wall. This is also the time to think about your gardens irrigation needs.
